Views from Chandrashila

At the summit of Tungnath, world's highest Shiva temple, Chandrashila is a 4000m high trekking peak in the Garhwal Himalayas.
Literally meaning "Moon Rock", here one can see a spectacular views of some of the highest Indian Himalayan peaks like the NandaDevi, Trishul, KedarDome, Bandarpoonch and Chaukhamba. There are various legends associated with this place. According to one of the popular legends, this is the place where Lord Rama meditated after defeating the demon-king Ravana. Another legend says that the moon-god Chandra spent time here in penance.
